Artist's Statement | The Zodiac Cycle

We create extreme immersive experiences that use physical intensity and psychological confrontation to force participants into genuine presence. Our work sits at the intersection of performance art, ritual theater, and philosophical inquiry - using the body as both canvas and classroom.

We don't ask you to watch.

We ask you to participate and endure.

We believe that modern life is producing a particular kind of suffering: the suffering of never being present, never being real, never being seen. As a society we've created sophisticated systems for never having to truly feel anything fully. We exist in a culture that infantilizes everyone, treating all discomfort as trauma, all intensity as abuse and offering endless elaborate distractions and mechanisms for avoidance

The Zodiac Cycle exists to offer an alternative.

We believe:

Art should be allowed to take risks
Adults can consent to intensity
Some truths require extreme methods
Structured ordeal has value

We proceed with humility, not certainty.

We are artists working with dangerous materials, trying to create experiences that matter.

We work with the body because the body cannot lie. The body keeps score in ways the mind cannot erase. A slap lands differently than a lecture. Physical consequence is more honest than any conversation about mortality.

Certain truths cannot be understood intellectually - they must be experienced. You cannot think your way into presence. You cannot philosophize yourself into authenticity.

Pain cuts through the noise.

Fear strips away pretense.

Vulnerability destroys the masks we wear.

And in those moments of absolute clarity - when you cannot plan, cannot perform, cannot defer - you finally encounter yourself as you actually are.

You may forget most of what we say to you.

You will never forget what we do to you.

We are interested in your transformation - and transformation requires discomfort.

Not everything we do is bleak. Some experiences are fun. Some are playful. Some contain humor and warmth alongside intensity. Levity isn't a break from the work. It's another way in.

We acknowledge that this work exists in morally complex territory.

We could harm you. Not just physically, but psychologically and existentially. You could leave our experience worse than when you arrived. This is a real risk.

We cannot guarantee catharsis. Some people transform. Some people break. Some people integrate the experience beautifully. Some people are traumatized by it. We cannot control outcomes. What you do afterward is your responsibility.

We are not qualified as therapists. We are artists working with dangerous material. We have done extensive research. We have safety protocols. We have aftercare resources. But we are not medical professionals.

So why do we do this work anyway?

Because we believe in informed consent between adults.

Because we believe that some people want structured ordeal.

Because we believe that if you're willing to sign the waiver, show up, and walk through the door, then you deserve access to experiences that might change you - even if that change is dangerous.

We treat you like an adult capable of making hard choices.
